I began with an interest in Tarot cards – their use in predicting the past, present and future and the 2 dimensional illustrative potential of the cards. Through my work I explore my own narrative as a contemporary saga. The series depicts the period in time around my father winning the lottery, taking us from family life before the life changing event, through experiences of transition, to a new and unimagined life.
Using terracotta and stoneware slip I am visually archiving these experiences. While my work will connect with family and friends the most, I hope it will inspire others to believe that dreams can be realised, unexpected events can change our lives in a moment
