The feelings of pleasure or displeasure we experience in our clothes are a
constant source of inspiration for Eva. She has a particular interest in fashion’s
role in the life of the outsider. Eva’s prints are a playful exploration of what
sociologist Lisa Ruggerone refers to as, ‘the feeling of being dressed. Her practice
is deeply rooted in drawing, which serves as a natural means for Eva to process
ideas and feelings. Storytelling is an important aspect of the work. This is
expressed through the process of screen print, which allows for multiple layered
images, and echoes the multiple layers of a character’s story. Eva’s work is a
response to the lived experiences of different outsider characters with whom she
has a personal affinity, and with whom fashion plays a vital role in their sense of
identity.
