Biosatellite

The aim of my practice is to question how scientific findings are mediated to the public. The NASA Biosatellite Experiments from the 1960’s were experiments conducted on plants, insects and animals to establish if they could survive in atmospheres outside of planet earth. In an attempt by NASA to create conditions for the survival of their subjects, the experiments failed.

Although the failure of these experiments are now forgotten, I am using their traces to explore contemporary parallel concerns around loss of species. The work is a multi-channel projection exploring the boundary between documentary and fiction, blurring the line between fact and fiction.
