I don’t believe anything can be perfect. So my art aesthetic depicts this belief as I create “Bad Art”, “Unperfected work” or “Art Brut”. I create work that can inspire people outside the art-world to make work, bridging the gap between the everyday and art worlds. I make art that can be relatable to everyday people. Showcasing that it is not a scary place in an art institute. I grew up in the everyday world and I wish to be a mediator for all.
My practice takes on a unique perspective on my life as I nurture my confessional autobiographic work. Confessional autobiographic is a phrase I have come to use as intimate and hidden details of my life are revealed in the act of a visual manner. In the style of a memoir, my practice is a testament to my experience of the past four years and how far I have grown in this chapter of my life. The term memoir is important as my Self-portraits are a response of my time here in the art world.
I have experienced as much as I could possibly in this time. Exciting people, Failing first semester, Printmaking, Nights Out, Photography, Substances, Trips, Exhibitions, Travel, Sweets, Arrests and many more. Me as a person I want to experience all of lives wonders.
For Degree show I hope to have achieved fearless speech in my art. Allowing me to mediate between everyday and art worlds.
