Design Make Collection

For my 4th year final year project work I was tasked with designing a minimum of 4 looks, supported by and developed from 2D and 3D developments that are undertaken throughout the processMy inspiration came from my sister’s embroidery fabric that she made before she passed away. During my holiday in Mali, I came across this fabric that she gave to my older sisters. This gave me ideas for my design, so I decided to rework her designs by crocheting and knitting. However, in the end I decided to use weaving as my focus and technique and used knitting and crochet throughout the designs as an add on. All my designs are based of my sister’s embroidery fabric, which consists mainly of diamond shapes and stripe patterns. My collection consisted of 5 different looks, the 1st one was fully crochet. A skirt with stripe pattern and the top with diamond shape. For my second look everything was weaved, I made a skirt and top again. This time both patterns were on all garment. My 3rd look was a dress made using weaving with stripe pattern and macrame on the side. The 4th design was a top made using weaving and a skirt using crochet, all stripe patterns using different colour. My final look was a long skirt that was knitted using my diamond shape design on a punch card, as for the top I weaved a poncho.
