‘Take Up Space’ is a documentary on the topic of Safe Spaces for the
LGBTQ+ community in Irish Cities.
Through interviewing many people based in Galway, Limerick, Cork & Dublin about this topic, we have uncovered many issues that need to be resolved before the community in question can feel truly comfortable & safe when living in these cities.
We explored the history of safe spaces in Ireland, whether we still need them today, whether or not we still have them today, and if so, what they have evolved into and why.
