S.W.A.L.K (Sealed with a loving kiss) is inspired by my parent’s relationship in 1979 & the letters they would send. Each one sealed with S.W.A.L.K. Looking at my father’s background in the military and mother’s time spent working in a 70’s hotel. Researching their story as a designer I wanted to emphasise the hotel furniture in my collection versus my father’s military Uniform. I achieved this by developing furniture patterns & working on the stand. The linings of some of my pieces have handwritten words from my Father’s love letters sent back and forth between them. Using a mix of wools, velvets, corduroy & interior fabrics brings through a nostalgic 70’s & contemporary tailoring feel.
