Not Quite A Home

What is home, a place, people or the objects? From my research I’ve discovered that home is both external and internal, it is permanent and semi permeant, it’s both memories and experiences, it’s neither a place nor a person, object or building. “Bachelard determines that the house has both unity and complexity, it is made out of memories and experiences, it’s different parts arouse different sensations at yet it brings up a unitary, intimate experience of living.” Unfortunately, in this world time conquers all, neither place nor person is exempt from its wrath. “Those places we remember are located not in space, but in time, and unless we can once more become the child that first experienced the joy and the love with which they are associated, then they are forever lost. Even as individuals we forget the details of our own past and the faces of those once dear to us.” Maybe the building we once called home will always echo us and we them. Maybe homes is not a psychical place but a place in time. Its relative to that moment, therefore it is not a building a place or a person but a trace of each.
