This S/S Womenswear collection is heavily inspired by moments from my childhood listening to the tales from faraway magical lands, evil stepmothers and adventures, In particular the old Irish tale “The Children of Lir,” a story of a father’s children turned into swans for 900 years by their jealous stepmother, Aoife. Grieving their transformation, the father visits them at a nearby lake until his death, after banishing Aoife.
For my shape development I worked with imagery inspired by water and swans. I explored pleating techniques to sculpt form, with structured pleats on the shoulders echoing a swan in flight. Gentle gathering on the sleeves mimic water ripples on the lake. My colour palette was pink and yellow to evoke a sense of childhood innocence, creating a whimsical, nostalgic atmosphere. “I further investigated my theme by layering semi-opaque fabrics like silk organza and cotton gingham, evoking the serene depth and fluidity of water.
