My work draws from the long ceramic tradition of storytelling. Using a contemporary approach, it pays homage to the ancient Egyptian, Greek and folk-art narrative traditions that candidly document culture.
I too am telling a story, observing our contemporary society – our day to day living, the spaces we inhabit, the people who surround us. These influence and guide my thinking.
I become a voluntary participant in this exploration of the everyday.
The stylistic and abstract approach used stems from personal experience with epilepsy. The illustrations capitalise on the warped sense of reality presented to both my conscious and subconscious.
