The Act of the Artist-Teacher: a self-reflected case study into real-life experiences of one Student-Artist-Teacher
This project encapsulates critical self-reflection and discussions through an investigative study into teaching strategies as well as illustrative work made by students. The short course project focuses on illustrative stop motion animation through the subject matter of supernatural folklore from a variety of cultures in the classroom. The students collaborated to create one final stop motion piece by compiling all their folklore research and rewriting their characters into new folklore for their generation. The class group investigated and explored key skills in gathering research, pencil illustration, set design, digital media and photography. These investigations led the students to upskilling their current knowledge on imaginative composition, technical art skills and developed their understanding of ICT as a learning aid.
