My 2D animated short is about JP Lanners, a young English woman who has an Ankh she inherited from her late father, which turns out to be the key to finding the Golden Cuttlefish. She also has a Beagle, Humphrey, who is her faithful sidekick. It’s an adventure story, acting as a pilot for a potential series, set in 1922. JP and her dog set off for adventure, arriving in Egypt, but the Ankh is stolen by the Captain. They track him down to an airfield that night, where he is taking a shower, leaving the Ankh on a stool outside the stall. Can Humphrey steal the Ankh back without getting caught? And will JP be able to steal a Biplane and fly them onwards to find the Golden Cuttlefish?
I animated this short using Toon Boom Harmony for 2D characters, and designed the biplane and halftrack vehicles in Maya, and combined the 3D and 2D elements in the chase sequence using Adobe After Effects, with the elements of the background illustrated in Photoshop. I have been working on the characters and creating the story since Second Year, and it is great to see it come to fruition.
