Otherworldly
My collection titled “Otherworldly” is inspired by byzantine era painting and artwork depicting heaven and angels. The idea of floating and flying through the skies is portrayed through exaggerated ruffles and pleating techniques to make the wearer look as though they are rising into heaven. Shades of deep luminous blue fabrics are layered to portray a painterly opacity. The colour blue represents divinity and purity in byzantine era art. Shapes were derived from different variations of the Modano as she is portrayed in paintings.
