“An nasc luibheolaíoch”

Aisling is an Irish artist concerned with the visual manipulation of geometric botanical structures. Her work is inspired by the interconnectivity of natural life and the unseen communication from one living thing to another. Aisling’s paintings serve as a continuous attempt to create visual manifestations of this idea.

Her preferred mediums of traditional oil paint on canvas and pencil on paper, are used to compose a selection of different botanical shapes and organic forms together into an abstracted symmetrical landscape. The chosen creative approach in her series of paintings and graphite drawings, ‘An Nasc Luibheolaíoch’ or ‘The Botanical Link’, was an intuitive process that intended to develop her nature-inspired visual vocabulary in a way that invites the viewer to experience an interconnectivity first-hand.

The recurring geometric motifs and vibrant color palette used in these works are informed by repeated patterns seen in the phyllotaxis of flowers, leaf growth, fungal mycelium, and tree root formation – a unison that intends to transcend the viewer into a vibrant, otherworldly botanical dimension made up of abstract patterns and lucid forms.
