Clobberbot

My animation tells the story of Clobberbot, a mining robot whose existence consists of smashing rocks on a desolate planet. One day he stumbles across something that takes him on a journey of discovery, companionship and ultimately his own survival.

This piece was created using traditional stop frame animation and was filmed using a DSLR camera controlled using Dragonframe software. The final composition was designed and created using Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects.

I handcrafted the set and props using a combination of MDF wood, craft foam and clay. Each hand painted using an airbrush to achieve a bespoke visual texture and form. I created aluminium armatures to form the skeletal structure for my character models. I then added polymer clay and silicone. Each character was then sprayed and individually painted to achieve a weathered aesthetic complimentary to their environment.
