My animated short film follows an astronaut piloting a container ship travelling through space to arrive on a barren planet. His cargo is a delivery of terraforming equipment; the means to change a planet’s atmosphere and make it habitable. Upon delivering the machinery, he finds himself unable to leave and unable to contact anyone. Trapped on an alien planet and longing for his home, the astronaut observes a changing landscape as he loses track of time and reality.
< Return > focuses on changing environments and emphasises contrasting spaces through use of composition, design by subtraction as well as isometric and geometric designs. My intention is that the visual aesthetic and environment design help to tell the story in my animated short film.
