The beautiful views of the Mourne Mountains are my inspiration for this informal functional tableware. Focussing on the notion of reconnecting with nature, the ware is also intended to reconnect us with wholesome natural foods, eating as nature intended. Adopting a holistic approach—process, material and function enforce this notion of reconnection. With references to traditional slip decorated red earthenware, I strive to be true to the material. Through throwing on the wheel I evoke harmony in the symmetry, adding controlled spontaneity in the application of the slip. These reference back to a simpler time.
