Assisting the exploration of archaeological monuments in Ireland

One of the most alluring aspects of Ireland is its rich archaeological heritage. Not only does this captivate the attention of foreign visitors, but it also grasps the curiosity of much of its population. A great number of our monuments are well maintained and highlighted as destinations of interest, but these are only a minuscule fraction of what the land has on offer.

Enthusiasts have always shared knowledge of sites through various mediums such as books, tours, social media and websites such as prehistoricwaterford.com. Increasing the accessibility of our monuments for everyone to enjoy is a common trait amongst this community.

This app was developed to bring a mobile means of exploring monuments and allowing enthusiasts to contribute photos and reviews. It displays the location of every archaeological feature within Ireland along with their description, derived from the archaeological database. Users can filter the monuments according to their interest, and create a collection of favourites for future reference.
