My work explores the concept of human sexuality focusing on childhood innocence and the cultural repression of non-normative identity. Using childlike media such as toys, crayons and symbols typically associated with generic childhood, the work explores the development of the queer child existing within the hierarchies of a heteronormative society. Inspired by personal experiences the work also combines childhood aesthetics with queer theory to allow the opportunity for moral questioning. The work is an investigation into how social constructs continually repress those children who do not conform to what is considered to be a normative identity.
