Origin
What is that which is external to us, is it as we perceive it? Our perception is a simulacrum, a model of the world that exists only in our mind and is informed entirely by our senses. All the time, constantly filtering the information.
Sometimes, only for the briefest moment, we become aware of this raw sensory input, in moments of hyper focus, idle thought, or in the timeless space between daydreams and reality. These brief and intriguing moments all too quickly awaken our conscious mind, and in trying to reason with the experience, the doors of perception slam shut.
Origin is an exploration of this concept. It stitches together an evocative tapestry of moments, where we are briefly aware of this truth, interlaced with symbols representing human consciousness. Throughout the film, glitch aesthetics is leveraged as a metaphor for the distortion of our perception during these moments. The rapid crescendo of scenes culminates in a brief and beautiful insight to our mind.
