Stitch & Bloom Studio

Stitch & Bloom Studio is a co-operative fashion design studio with a sustainable retail outlet. Fashion designers become members of the co-operative fashion studio and have the space and opportunity to create sustainable clothes, that are then showcased and retailed on the ground level.

The concept for this design is ‘The Burren’, this developed from the members aim to inform the public of the severe damage that fast fashion has on global warming and how choosing sustainable clothes can help slow this crisis. The karst limestone landscape influenced many elements of the design from the colour palette to the bespoke window display and display railings. The aim is to create a space that will make sustainable clothing more accessible and visible to all, while also offering a custom service for clients to acquire unique pieces of clothing.

The building chosen for this project is The Bank building, 63 O’Connell Street/Mallow Street. A three storey Georgian building in the heart of Limerick City. The Georgian doors and windows are all being retained along with all the remaining interior historic features. The client has also requested that all new construction materials being incorporated in the project be sustainably sourced to keep within the studio’s environmental ethos.
